Tulipe Trek with Lunch

OVERVIEW

One of our favorite visits as we will go to the Cloud Forest to breathe pure air and if we are lucky, we will have the possibility to birdwatch and certainly see a lot of variety of plants.

Early start northwest of Quito, to first visit the Tulipe Museum, an archaeological area where the first inhabitants of the province of Pichincha used to live trading and bartering. Then, you will visit Bellavista - Private Andean Cloud Forest Garden, which ranges in altitude 500 to 1500 mts. with foot paths full of a great variety of flora and fauna, walking along 7 or 2 kms of primary forest, admiring many species of orchids, bromeliads, ferns, palm trees, medicinal plants, butterflies, many species of birds (42 species of hummingbirds listed in this garden).

Overview

Visit to a traditional market in Ecuador where time has not passed, and you can see old traditions no longer held in other parts of the world such as bartering and animal trade.

Early departure towards Saquisili a small-town South of Quito which comes alive every Thursday with its unique indigenous market, one of the biggest in the Cotopaxi area, it has 7 different plazas each one offering different variety of produce to live stock animals. Continue to visit the Cotopaxi National Park.

OVERVIEW
A beautiful visit to meet and learn from many of our northern Ecuadorian Indigenous Communities.

We will personally pick you up at your hotel in Quito and drive you up to Otavalo. We will visit five Indian communities and observe first hand the every day life of the Otavalo Indigenous communities and the making of the typical handicrafts of the region. The Otavalo region weavers come from the villages of Peguche, Illuman, Quinchuqui, San Antonio de Ibarra, Cotacachi. They are very friendly and as a bonus you will be able to buy their products cheaper and straight from the loom. Time for lunch, finally we will visit the Cuicocha lake and the town of Cotacachi famous for its leather industry. Return to your hotel in Quito.

COTOPAXI + VISIT TO ROSE PLANTATION

Overview

The rose is one of the main exportations of Ecuador. Ecuadorian roses are known for their large blooms, which occur in about 60 varieties in various colors and shades of red, pink, yellow, purple and lavender. Ecuadorian roses have deep green stems that are long and straight. This makes them especially good for display in tall vases.

Ecuador is located on the equator, where it receives light at a 90-degree angle. The warm, dry days and cool nights, along with the fertile volcanic soil in the Andes Mountains, make for perfect conditions for growing roses. The view of the diversity of colors in the field is something that will leave you breathless.

Early departure from your hotel. We will first visit a rose plantation in Machachi. Then visit to the Cotopaxi National Park, Volcán Cotopaxi (5897 m) forms the centerpiece of Ecuador’s most visited mainland national park, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. You will travel along the avenue of the volcanoes and villages well known by their production, having a rich harvest of Andean products and protected areas. You will visit Limpiopungo lake, a long, shallow lake lying at 3.800 surrounded by totora reeds which provide a habitat for numerous birds in the foothills of Rumiñahui volcano. Then continue on the road up Cotopaxi for at least 15 km, as far as the parking place located at 4.600 masl on the slopes of Cotopaxi’s snow line. From here, a footpath leads steeply up to the mountain refuge (4.800m), a popular target for day visitors, once there, you can warm yourself with hot tea or chocolate. Coming back by the same way, there is a museum with a collection of stuffed animals. Time for lunch should be in a Hacienda or in colorful restaurant, late afternoon return to Quito.

Overview
This tour combines the experience of one of the few Precolumbine vestiges in Ecuador that is the Rumicucho Ruins with one of the most famous indigenous markets in the world, Otavalo.

Early departure from your hotel. We will first visit Cochasqui, one of the most vital pre-Hispanic sites in Ecuador. Then, traveling north of Quito through Pan American High way, we will visit the town of Otavalo which is located in a valley between two extinct volcanoes. At the head of this valley right off the highway is the large Lago San Pablo, where you will stop to admire the breathtaking views, and the Indian villages located there. Continue to the famous land of the Otavalos with their extraordinary and largest Hand Craft Market in Plaza de Ponchos.
